August Market Garden Blog
AUGUST MARKET GARDEN BLOG
August has been the busiest month in our early history with preparations taking place for our Open Day on the 19th September 2013.
We have gained great support from our local community including the Prison Service and The Prince's Trust who helped us make great strides into the development of our Herb Garden. Each plot will contain herbs which can be utilised by the Chef's at The Granary Hotel and Restaurant and we also intend to use some of the herbs such as Lavender at our Day Service who will be making Lavender Bags later in the year to be sold at our Christmas Carol Concert.
OUR HERB GARDEN
We have also been working hard on our Bug Hotel ensuring that we use a variety of different components and textures which all go to offering our new residents great choice of where they settle! We must admit we are quite pleased with the results - what do you think? We have to particularly thank Elita at SP Group who kindly donated the pallets - a crucial part of our Bug Hotel!
Our Orchard has produced some impressive crops with the apples tasting so good that one of our staff attempted to make cider! We are hoping that our plums will be ready for picking in a couple of weeks time - why not join us to see our working Market Garden in action during our Open Day on the 19th September 2013.
One final thank you has to go to Webbs Garden Centre who sent over a large parcel of herbs which will help us hugely in the future.
