Healthy Living at Amber Support: Cooking from Scratch and Enjoying the Sunshine

At Amber Support Services, we believe that promoting independence, healthy choices and meaningful routines are all part of delivering high-quality, person-centred support. One of the ways we do this is by encouraging the people we support to take an active role in preparing nutritious meals – and enjoying the process along the way.

Here is an example of one of the many delicious home-cooked meals enjoyed by our clients, this time of breaded chicken with roasted carrots and peppers – a colourful and nutritious dish made with care.  To top it all off, the meal was enjoyed outside in the garden, under the sunshine – a perfect way to relax, reflect, and take pride in what had been achieved.  Cooking sessions like this form part of our everyday approach to life skills development. They help build confidence, support healthy routines, and promote knowledge around food choices and nutrition.  They are an opportunity to learn valuable life skills such as planning, food preparation, kitchen safety, and nutrition. With the right support and encouragement, cooking can be both empowering and enjoyable.
