Feeling Safe to Talk Time
On Thursday 5 February 2026, Amber Support will be recognising Time to Talk Day, a national awareness day focused on encouraging open conversations about mental health.
We all have mental health. Talking about how we feel whether things are going well or not can be an important first step towards feeling supported understood and less alone. Yet mental health can still feel like a difficult subject to raise especially in everyday settings.
For Time to Talk Day we are focusing on creating safe, relaxed opportunities for conversation across our services.
What this looks like in practice
Throughout the day staff will be encouraged to:
• Check in with clients in a natural pressure free way
• Create calm moments for conversation such as during a walk a shared activity or over a cuppa
• Listen without judgement and without the need to fix things
• Reassure clients that it is okay to talk and equally okay not to
For some people communication may not be verbal. Time spent together, shared activities, artwork, or simply being alongside someone can be just as meaningful.
Small conversations make a difference
There is no right or wrong way to take part in Time to Talk Day. A short chat, a gentle question or simply making time for someone can make a real difference.
At Amber Support we are proud to work in a culture where conversations are encouraged, care is person centred, and wellbeing matters every day not just on one date in the calendar. For more information: https://www.mind.org.uk/get-involved/time-to-talk-day/
